International Consultation on Emerging Geopolitical Reconfiguration in South Asia to begin in Colombo

Chiang Mai, Thailand: The Christian Conference of Asia (CCA) is organising an International Consultation on “Emerging Geopolitical Reconfiguration in South Asia: Challenges to People’s Security and Peace with Justice” in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on 13-14 March 2025.
The consultation will be held in conjunction with the World Council of Churches (WCC) Pilgrimage of Justice, Reconciliation, and Unity Reference Group meeting from 13 to 18 March in Colombo.
The two-day consultation will bring together a diverse group of 40 participants, including geopolitical analysts, academics, journalists, representatives from faith-based organisations, and members of the WCC International Reference Group, to explore the region's evolving geopolitical landscape and its impact on peace with justice and people’s security.
South Asia remains one of the most dynamic and complex regions in the world, shaped by historical legacies, economic forces, military rivalries, and socio-political tensions. Issues such as violence, religious extremism, ethnic and religious divides, economic inequality, and rising environmental vulnerabilities exacerbate the geopolitical challenges in the region.
The consultation will also focus on the impact on people’s security in South Asia and explore the Church’s role in providing a prophetic witness in response.
