Farewell to AHN Jae Woong
Church and ecumenical leaders paid rich tributes to Dr Ahn Jae Woong at a farewell meeting organised by CCA in Hong Kong on 27 May. They recalled the contributions made by Ahn Jae Woong, who retired as general secretary of CCA and returned to his home country, Korea, on 30 May.
The speakers were unanimous in saying that Ahn was one of the few ecumenical leaders who promoted ecumenical leadership formation throughout his ecumenical ministry spanning more than 35 years. Dr David Suh, Dr Prawate Khid-arn, Rev Kwok Kai Wang, Dr Christine Ledger, Dr Rose Wu and Dr Rakesh Peter Dass, among others, expressed appreciation for his strong conviction and commitment to the ecumenical movement
During the dinner, an ecumenical volume, "Windows into ecumenism," brought out in honour of Ahn Jae Woong was released by the Anglican Archbishop of Hong Kong and Macau, Peter Kwong. The 400-page book has 28 articles and an introduction by Dr Preman Niles. Dr David Suh has written the foreword.
Speaking on the occasion, Ahn Jae Woong said that he was only going from the CCA, but not leaving the ecumenical movement, where he will continue to involve and work in different capacities.
