Witnessing the Christ of Justice and Peace

Programme Review and Programme Direction

Two key deliberative sessions during the 15th CCA General Assembly are the Programme Review and Programme Direction sessions.

The Programme Review and Programme Direction sessions will both be conducted in three groups relating to the CCA’s programme areas, namely, (i) General Secretariat (GS), (ii) Mission in Unity and Contextual Theology (MU) and Ecumenical Leadership Formation and Spirituality (EF); and (iii) Building Peace and Moving Beyond Conflicts (BP) and Prophetic Diakonia (PD).

Assembly participants will have the option to join one of three groups for both the Programme Review and Programme Direction sessions. For the sake of coherence, the assigned group will remain the same for both sessions.

General Secretariat

The General Secretariat oversees the coordination of programmatic, administrative, and financial activities of the organization. The GS comprises various departments such as church and ecumenical relations, relations with ecumenical partners, finance, administration, and communications, which provide crucial support and services for the implementation of programs and contribute to the overall functioning of the CCA.

Ecumenical Enabler's Training: Witnessing the Christ of Justice and Peace

    Kathmandu, 24-26 November 2013

An Ecumenical Enabler’s Training is being conducted at Kathmandu, Nepal from 24-26 November 2013. This workshop, that is jointly organized by the Christian Conference of Asia (CCA) and the National Council of Churches in Nepal (NCC Nepal), has brought together about 35 participants from churches in Nepal.

The theme “Witnessing the Christ of Justice and Peace,” is a call to Christians to be instruments of justice and peace, by living the way Jesus taught us to live, by being just and loving, and taking the risk to help people beyond cultural, religious, social and political barriers. In a world that is fragmented by wars, human rights violations, communal strife and ecological imbalances, Christians are called to witness the Christ of justice and peace. The Training seeks to empower the churches in Nepal to build a strong national network of churches for mission and evangelism. The training also includes sessions on Asian Theologies, Asian Ecumenical movement and Theological education in Asia. The Training will be facilitated by Rev. Dr. Henriette Hutabarat Lebang, (CCA General Secretary); Dr. K B. Rokaya (General Secretary of NCC Nepal and member of CCA Presidium), Rev. Dr. Roger Gaikwad (General Secretary of NCC India) and Rev. Grace Moon (Executive Secretary, Faith Mission and Unity).

This non-formal Ecumenical education program seeks to address the needs of new and young members of CCA, especially where there is a lack of ecumenical theological education, and where many pastors and church leaders do not have access to it. In such situations it is the responsibility of the CCA as a regional ecumenical organization to be proactive in equipping pastors, church leaders, youth workers, women leaders and Sunday school teachers with an ecumenical perspective. Such programs have already been conducted in Cambodia, Timor Leste and Bhutan.
