Together on a Spiritual Journey
Together on a Spiritual Journey….. 13 02 2013 Dear Friends, We invite you to join us on a spiritual journey starting today….. Ash Wednesday
Jesus spent 40 days fasting in the desert, where he endured temptation by Satan. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of this 40-day liturgical period of prayer and fasting. The use of ashes as a sign of mortality is an old custom found in various traditions. Ash Wednesday reminds us that we were formed by God from the dust of the earth, and that we shall one day return to dust. It is also a sign of mourning and repentance to God.
We keep Ash Wednesday at the beginning of the season of Lent, well aware that we have every reason for putting ashes on our heads.
Starting today we will post on our page “Together on a Spiritual Journey” prayers, reflections, Theological and Biblical insights and liturgical excerpts that will serve as spiritual food on our journey together…..
Let us seek a closer walk with God as he leads us to ‘green pastures and quiet waters’.
Wishing you a very blessed Lent
