Launching of "Asian Politics and Ecumenical Vision"
Asian Politics and Ecumenical Vision: a collection of selected writings of Dr. Feliciano V. Carino, was released on 1st November 2013, at a simple and brief function at the CCA Madang, during the 10th WCC Assembly at Busan in South Korea.
The book, edited by Philip L. Wickeri and Marina True, with a foreword by D. Preman Niles, was released by Henriette Hutabarat Lebang, General Secretary, Christian Conference of Asia, in the presence of distinguished guests, friends and well wishers. First copies were given out to all present.
We congratulate Ms. Teresa Carino, wife of Dr. Carino, for her determination and perseverance in getting this book printed and also for the good intentions of sharing Dr. Fely's writings for the benefit of students of theology. We regret that she was unable to attend the function.
"Dr. Feliciano Carino was one of Asia's foremost theologians and ecumenical leaders in the late twentieth century. In a career spanning more than 30 years, he worked in the Students Christian Movement, the Presbyterian Church, USA, the World Student Christian Federation, the National Council of Churches in the Philippines, and the Christian Conference of Asia. He was closely connected to the World Council of Churches and the global ecumenical movement. Fely, as he liked to be called, also taught in seminaries, and ecumenical organizations all over the world. Through his lectures and writings, and personal interactions, he had a deep and lasting impact on men and women in the Philippines, in Asia as a whole, and around the world...... For those who did not know Fely, as they read this book, they will encounter a companion for their journey. For those of us who knew and loved him, we will be reminded how important he still is. We miss him and we cannot forget him" .. Philip L. Wickeri
