Christian Conference of Asia welcomes YMCA leaders from around the World

Christian Conference of Asia welcomed national general secretaries of YMCA’s from 53 countries around the world last evening at the headquarters of CCA in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The visit to CCA was in conjuction with the annual meeting of World Alliance of YMCA, which is being held in Chiang Mai.
While welcoming the YMCA leaders, Dr. Mathews George Chunakara, the general secretary of CCA stated that, "CCA and YMCAs have been in close cooperation with each other and in the common ecumenical journey, organising different programs in mutual partnership. Both organisations share common history in many areas of ecumenical actions in the past decades.”
Johan Vilhelm Eltvik, the secretary general of World YMCA appreciated the close links between CCA and YMCA movement in Asia and thanked CCA general secretary and staff for welcoming the group. He was grateful of the Asian hospitality and fellowship at CCA. CCA has been engaged in common ecumenical witness in various areas of their work in the region, especially in peace and reconciliation, interfaith realtions and leadership development. The School of Peace program initiated by CCA and AP- YMCA has been a key area of ecumenical commitment and collaboration between both organisations.
