Celebrating 50 years of NCC Philippines

Programme Review and Programme Direction

Two key deliberative sessions during the 15th CCA General Assembly are the Programme Review and Programme Direction sessions.

The Programme Review and Programme Direction sessions will both be conducted in three groups relating to the CCA’s programme areas, namely, (i) General Secretariat (GS), (ii) Mission in Unity and Contextual Theology (MU) and Ecumenical Leadership Formation and Spirituality (EF); and (iii) Building Peace and Moving Beyond Conflicts (BP) and Prophetic Diakonia (PD).

Assembly participants will have the option to join one of three groups for both the Programme Review and Programme Direction sessions. For the sake of coherence, the assigned group will remain the same for both sessions.

General Secretariat

The General Secretariat oversees the coordination of programmatic, administrative, and financial activities of the organization. The GS comprises various departments such as church and ecumenical relations, relations with ecumenical partners, finance, administration, and communications, which provide crucial support and services for the implementation of programs and contribute to the overall functioning of the CCA.

christian conference of Asia, Asia christianity

Congratulations and best wishes to the National Council of Churches in the Philippines as they celebrate their Golden Jubilee year. This is a message from Rev. Dr. Henriette Hutabarat Lebang, General Secretary of the CCA, in celebration of 50 years of ecumenical solidarity.

    SOLIDARITY MESSAGE

It gives me great pleasure to greet you on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP).

May I on behalf of the member churches and councils of the Christian Conference of Asia congratulate you on the commendable manner in which the NCCP has given leadership to the member churches and related organizations for the last fifty years. The strong commitment and long term engagement of the leaders of NCCP with the people, in their struggle for justice, peace, human rights and integrity of creation, serves as an example and inspires many churches in Asia in their prophetic ministry.

You have indeed been true to your belief that ‘Christian faith has to be lived in the crucible of people’s daily experiences, just as Jesus Christ who walked with the poor and the hungry, the maimed and the sick’.

The journey of fifty years has been a long one and I am sure not devoid of your own share of joys and sorrows, despair and hope, struggles and successes, but above all, a fruitful one. As we look back, let us be thankful for God’s abundant grace, and for the many able and brilliant people who have passed through the portals of the NCCP and have enriched the ministry of CCA, and for all we could achieve, our dreams and our realities.

As we look to the future, we pray that you will move forward with hope and courage in God’s guiding spirit and the comforting knowledge that you are not alone, for dear brothers and sisters, we walk with you in friendship and solidarity, as we have in the last few decades.

May God bless you and continue to use the NCCP as an instrument to promote the unity of churches as the body of Christ and to continue to grow together in the path of life, peace and justice.

    Rev. Dr. Henriette Hutabarat Lebang
