CCA opens registration for the Asia Mission Conference 2017

Programme Review and Programme Direction

Two key deliberative sessions during the 15th CCA General Assembly are the Programme Review and Programme Direction sessions.

The Programme Review and Programme Direction sessions will both be conducted in three groups relating to the CCA’s programme areas, namely, (i) General Secretariat (GS), (ii) Mission in Unity and Contextual Theology (MU) and Ecumenical Leadership Formation and Spirituality (EF); and (iii) Building Peace and Moving Beyond Conflicts (BP) and Prophetic Diakonia (PD).

Assembly participants will have the option to join one of three groups for both the Programme Review and Programme Direction sessions. For the sake of coherence, the assigned group will remain the same for both sessions.

The Christian Conference of Asia (CCA) announces the Registration process of the forthcoming Asia Mission Conference by inviting  member churches, councils, ecumenical partners, missionaries, missiologists, theologians, theological students, and different other categories of interested participants to be part of the Asia Mission Conference.

The Asia Mission Conference – 2017 will be held in Yangon, Myanmar from 11 to 17 October 2017, under the theme: Journeying Together: Prophetic Witness to the Truth and Light, in Asia. The AMC  2017 will take place after 23 years since the last AMC held in Seoul, Korea in 1994.

The forthcoming AMC coincides with the Diamond Jubilee of the CCA, which was founded in 1957 at the Asian Church Leaders’ Conference on the theme, Our Common Evangelistic Tasks.

While being engaged in its mission and witness, the CCA has journeyed through the past six decades to fulfill its mandates of serving and enriching the churches in Asia.

“We ardently pray and sincerely hope that the Asia Mission Conference – 2017 and the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the CCA, will facilitate deeper discussions, and will lead to greater dedication and to relevant and meaningful recapturing and re-articulation of our commitment to the mission, the act of the Almighty God,” the CCA General Secretary, Dr. Mathews George Chunakara stated.

The AMC will begin in the morning on Thursday, 12 October 2017 and conclude in the afternoon on Monday, 16 October 2017. The Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of the CCA will be held on Sunday, 15 October 2017 in a grand commemorative event in the presence of a gathering, including the 400 invited participants and guests to the AMC.

The theme of the Diamond Jubilee, as well as of the Asia Sunday - 2017, will be the same as that of the AMC: Journeying Together: Prophetic Witness to the Truth and Light, in Asia.

Dr. Mathews George further added, “We call upon all member churches, councils and all other partners of the CCA to observe Asia Sunday on 15 October 2017 in the most befitting way and to pray specially for the CCA”.

Representatives of CCA member churches and councils, especially heads of churches, general secretaries and presidents, and moderators / secretaries of Mission and Evangelism departments of churches and councils are invited to be part of these seminal events.
