CCA Executive and Round Table Meetings at Chiang Mai, Thailand
The Executive Committee of the Conference of Asia met on 24th and 27th September 2013, and had joint meetings with Ecumenical partners on 25th and 26th September 2013.
Apart from business meetings the Committee analyzed the emerging economic, social, religious, political and environmental trends in Asia, their impact on the people in the region and the Christian response to such challenging situations. The committee expressed concern over the bomb attacks on the All Saints Church at Peshawar and were of the opinion that all places of worship, whether churches, temples or mosques, were sacred and therefore to be safeguarded. They were also anxious about the growing tensions in Mindanao, Philippines and in Southern Thailand; the farmers unrest in Thailand, the plight of the garment factory workers in Bangladesh and the increasing incidents of environmental disasters.
The RoundTable with Ecumenical Partners was a welcome opportunity to meet, share information and updates from each organisation and discuss ways of how best to work together on our common journey towards fullness of life for all.
The meetings were held at Holiday Inn, Chiang Mai Thailand.
